Peer Review Manager

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) is the largest state accounting organization in the nation and currently has 30,000 members. It was incorporated in 1897 for the following purposes:

  • To cultivate, promote, and disseminate knowledge and information concerning certified public accountants.
  • To establish and maintain high standards of integrity, honor, and character among certified public accountants.
  • To furnish information regarding accountancy and the practice and methods thereof to its members and the general public.
  • To protect the interests of its members and the general public with respect to the practice of accountancy.

The Society fulfills its mission through its 16 chapters, more than 60 technical and administrative committees, and a 42-member Board of Directors. The administrative operations are under the direction of the Executive Director, assisted by a professional staff of approximately 80.

They are presently staffing a new CPA Peer Review Manager position out of their corporate office in New York, NY.

As Peer Review Manager you will oversee the operations of the Peer Review Program for the NYSSCPA. In this role you will perform technical reviews, research and respond to members’ inquiries & technical issues, provide technical and administrative support to the Peer Review Committee, prepare/review technical and administrative update memoranda and articles for the Society’s website and publications.

This position offers the right individual an opportunity to build their management and organizational skills as well as providing the opportunity for significant growth in their professional knowledge and competency. It involves regular dialogue with peer reviewers, senior members of peer reviewed firms, peer reviews committee members, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ peer review technical staff, and State Society peer review program leaders on a variety of program issues, auditing (including specialized areas such as Employee benefit plans, “Yellow Book” audits, etc) financial accounting principles & regulatory matters.

The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • CPA or CPA candidate with 4-5 years of audit and accounting experience within a CPA firm.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, set priorities and possess problem solving skills.
  • Have proficiencies with Microsoft Office suite.
