Feds Want Wesley Snipes to Get 3 Years for Tax Fraud

NEW YORK -- Federal prosecutors want actor Wesley Snipes to spend 36 months in prison for his conviction on tax fraud charges, WNBC-TV reported Thursday.

Prosecutors said Snipes deserves the maximum sentence and should also be forced to pay a $5 million dollar fine, WNBC-TV reported.

"For nearly a decade, Snipes engaged in a campaign of criminal tax conduct combining brazen defiance with insidious concealment," Florida U.S. Attorney Robert O'Neill wrote in a sentencing memorandum filed Tuesday in U.S, District Court Ocala Division, WNBC-TV reported.

Snipes was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of willfully failing to file tax returns dating from 1999 through 2001. But he was acquitted of two felony charges, WNBC-TV reported.
