Lawyers Spar Over Enron Documents' Fate

HOUSTON -- A lawyer for Enron Corp. argued Thursday that some of the 19 million pages of documents handed to investigators and government agencies since the company imploded in December 2001 should be kept out of the public eye, The Associated Press reported.

Attorney John Strasburger told a hearing that some of the documents contain trade secrets, personnel records or other sensitive information.

Plaintiffs in a massive shareholder lawsuit pending against Enron, former company executives and several banks want information in the documents to be made public.

U.S. District Judge Melinda Harmon said she would rule on the issue at a later date.
