Relations
with IRS Committee Releases Overnight Delivery Addresses
NEW YORK --
A list obtained by members of the New York State Society of CPA’s
Committee
on Relations with the Internal Revenue Service details the
addresses a member/practitioner can use when overnighting tax
filings. The committee said that this list is vital since the
addresses aren’t in any tax form instructions.
The committee
said they discovered the list on a visit they made to the Philadelphia
processing center.
The instructions
for Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, etc., list the private delivery services
that the IRS has designated as meeting the “timely mailing
as timely filing/paying” rules for tax returns and payments.
According
to the committee, the instructions never go on to tell you where
to send the tax returns, which creates a problem since FedEx and
some other overnight delivery services do not deliver to post
offices boxes.
The committee
has come up with the following list of street addresses for the
IRS campuses (formerly known as service centers).
