Hevesi to Address School and Public Authority Audits

NEW YORK -- In response to the accounting and reporting issues facing public authorities, public school, and other government entities, the Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) has developed the Government and Public School Audit Conference.

Scheduled to take place on May 4 and 5, and May 10 and 11, in both Albany, N.Y., and New York City, this event will bring together the statutory requirements, regulatory issues and standards essential in the effective auditing of governmental entities. Participants may attend both days at either location for a complete update on recent developments or one day to hear specific topics.

Keynote speakers for this conference include New York state Comptroller Alan G. Hevesi, state Deputy Comptroller Mark P. Pattison and Nassau County Comptroller Howard S. Weitzman,.

Gary Hotchkiss, of RealisticApproach, will lead a discussion on the newest Yellow Book developments, including its conspicuous deficiencies. He will also provide an update on professional matters of interest to auditors who serve clients subject to Government Auditing Standards.

Gregory Driscoll, CPA, and a practice fellow at the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), will discuss emerging accounting and reporting issues related to GASB pronouncements that will become effective in the upcoming fiscal year. Driscoll will also update attendees on the status of proposed GASB pronouncements and other projects.
