NYSSCPA Town Hall Meetings
Accountancy Reform Law FREE 2-Credit CPE Session

NYSSCPA President David J. Moynihan and NYSSCPA President-elect Margaret A. Wood will be traveling across New York State this Fall to provide important Society updates and to address the topic of “Quality Matters.” They also want to hear from YOU, the members, about the issues YOU are concerned about. Please take advantage of this opportunity to meet and greet your statewide Society leaders.

The new accountancy law has dramatically changed how the CPA profession is regulated in New York State, especially CPAs practicing in industry. The 2009 Town Hall meetings will address this important issue and provide members in attendance with 2 FREE CPE credits. Many CPAs are unfamiliar with the new law, so we urge members to invite their CPA colleagues to the meeting, regardless of their membership status.

This FREE event is open to all NYSSCPA members and their CPA guests.

Topics of Discussion:

  • Overview of the new law and its effect on CPAs in New York State
  • New expanded scope of practice for CPAs, and issues relating to experience for licensure
  • New registration and mandatory CPE requirements
  • Limited permits/temporary practice permits/nonattest mobility
  • Mandatory quality review of attest services
  • Outreach program to all CPAs practicing in New York
  • Amendments to the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education relating to the licensure requirements for CPAs

Joanne Barry, Deputy Executive Director
