NEW YORK, NY, MAY 10, 2012 – The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) installed Scott M. Adair, CPA of West Henrietta, as Secretary/Treasurer at its 115th Annual Election Dinner and Meeting at the New York Marriott Marquis today. Adair has been the chief financial officer of Monroe County since 2008.
Adair, a NYSSCPA member since 2000, serves as a member of its Board of Directors, Executive Committee, chair of its Finance committee and as a member of the Government Accounting and Auditing Committee. He has also been a member of Deferred Compensation Task Force and its Task Force on Government Audit Quality. He also previously served as a member of the Executive Board for its Rochester Chapter and as the chapter’s president and president-elect.
Adair is a member of the Accounting and Auditing Committee of the New York State Government Financial Officers Association, and the Government Finance Officers’ Association Special Review Committee. He also serves as a board member and treasurer of Rochester District Heating, a not-for-profit cooperative that provides members located within the City of Rochester with cost-saving, steam-based district heating services. He is also a board member and vice president of the Baden Street Settlement of Rochester, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization serving people living in northeast Rochester, NY working to improve families, education and health and reducing crime and violence. Adair also serves as a Commissioner of the Rochester Genesee Transportation Authority (a New York State Public Authority) and is Treasurer of the Monroe County Airport Authority.
Adair has recently been nominated as the 2012 Not-for-Profit financial Executive of the Year by the Rochester Chapter of Financial Executives International and The Rochester Business Journal.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1988.
