NEW YORK – (Nov. 27, 2018) – Matthew Karnes, CPA, founder of Greenwave Advisors LLC, will discuss the state of the cannabis industry during the New York State Society of CPAs’ (NYSSCPA) Cannabis Conference on Dec. 11, at Convene, 730 Third Avenue, in New York City. During the conference, Karnes will share what’s to come in legislation, market growth and investments, as well as a five-year outlook on the future of the legalized cannabis industry.

Other conference speakers include:

  • Derek Abdekalimi, CPA, Founder, Cannaledger
  • Mitzi Hollenbeck, CPA, Practice Leader of Cannabis Advisory Services Group, Citrin Cooperman LLP
  • Daniel McKillop, Chair, Cannabis Law Practice Group, Scarinci Hollenbeck LLC

Attendees will learn about opportunities in the cannabis industry, such as how blockchain technology and cryptocurrency can help alleviate the regulatory issues that the legal cannabis industry is facing. This event will also provide insight to investors about the best practices for investing in cannabis, as well as the practical issues that professionals are facing when it comes to operating legally and in compliance within the industry.

“This is a really great opportunity for a CPA, an attorney or finance professional to brush up on what they need to know to better serve their clients and turn potential obstacles into opportunities,” said CPA, Zachary Gordon, the NYSSCPA’s Cannabis Industry Committee and Cannabis Conference chair, and managing partner at CH3 Ventures LLC.

As the marijuana industry continues to grow rapidly, as well as generate jobs and profits, CPAs, lawyers, bankers, real estate professionals and investors are eager to provide their services to businesses that cater to the ever-growing medical marijuana industry. The 2018 Cannabis Conference is a prime opportunity to learn from experts in the field, build connections across sectors, and hear from legislators in the know about what to expect as legislation evolves and as the industry continues to grow.
