NEW YORK, NY, MAY 14, 2012 – The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) installed Arthur J. Roth, CPA of Loudonville, as a director-at-large at its 115th Annual Election Meeting & Dinner held at the New York Marriott Marquis on May 10. Roth is a tax consultant with Mayer Brown LLP and was the commissioner of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance from 1999 to 2003. Roth’s term is for three years and begins on June 1, 2012.
Roth joined the NYSSCPA in 1968 and served on its Board of Directors. He is currently a member of the New York, Multistate & Local Taxation Committee, and is a past member of the Annual Leadership Conference, Legislative Contacts, Chapter Operations and Professional Service Corporations committees. He also served on the Task Force for Society Recognition Nationwide Committee. In 1998, Roth was honored with the NYSSCPA Outstanding Certified Public Accountant in Government Award.
Roth is a past president, president-elect and a member of the Executive Board of the NYSSCPA’s Northeast Chapter.
Roth has served as chair of the city of Albany's Special Commission on Tax Exempt Property, chair of the Albany Municipal Water Authority, director of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce, and chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Center for Environmental Sciences and Technology Management at SUNY-Albany. Roth currently serves on the board of directors of Albany Molecular Research, Inc., MVP Healthcare,Inc. and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Roth has a bachelor of science degree from Syracuse University and served in the United States Army.
