Staten
Island Chapter Celebrates 50 Years and Installs New Officers

The
Staten Island Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs
held its 50th anniversary celebration in conjunction with its
annual installation dinner on May 17 2002, at the South Shore
Country Club in Staten Island. Live music entertained the audience,
who also were treated to a presentation by the chapter's historian,
Charles P. LaCagnina, who poignantly showcased highlights
of the chapter's 50-year history.
The
evening also witnessed the installation of new officers. Members
installed to serve one-year terms included William C. Trochiano,
president; Charles J. Weintraub, president-elect; Mark
A. Fappiano, vice president; Anthony J. Tanzi, treasurer,
and Barbara Sandak, secretary. Additionally, Joseph
M. Pane was installed as a new director for a two-year term;
directors installed to serve the remaining year of their two-year
terms included Frank J. Aquilino, Rosemarie A. Giovinazzo-Barnickel,
Walter Daszkowski, and Anthony J. Tucci.
Gregory
J. Cicero chaired the event.
The
outgoing president, Ms. Sandak, presented awards to a number
of members in recognition of the assistance she received from
them during her term as president. Mr. Trochiano presented Ms.
Sandak with a plaque of appreciation for her service, while
Mr. Aquilino, who also serves as the Society's treasurer, presented
the chapter with a special award commemorating its 50 years.
Active
in the chapter for the last several years, serving as vice president
as well as chair of the Newsletter Committee, Mr. Trochiano
is a partner in Trochiano & Daszkowski LLP, with offices in
both Staten Island and New Jersey. Prior to starting his own
practice, Mr. Trochiano worked for a small firm and in the tax
department of Ernst & Young LLP.
In
addition to his involvement in the Society, Mr. Trochiano is
a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New Jersey
State Society of CPAs. He received his Bachelor of Science degree
in accounting from the City University of New York College of
Staten Island and also attended Albany State University. Mr.
Trochiano resides in New Jersey with his wife, Bridget, and
their three children, Justin, William and Ava.
