The Staten Island Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs held its 50th anniversary celebration in conjunction with its annual installation dinner on May 17 2002, at the South Shore Country Club in Staten Island. Live music entertained the audience, who also were treated to a presentation by the chapter's historian, Charles P. LaCagnina, who poignantly showcased highlights of the chapter's 50-year history.

The evening also witnessed the installation of new officers. Members installed to serve one-year terms included William C. Trochiano, president; Charles J. Weintraub, president-elect; Mark A. Fappiano, vice president; Anthony J. Tanzi, treasurer, and Barbara Sandak, secretary. Additionally, Joseph M. Pane was installed as a new director for a two-year term; directors installed to serve the remaining year of their two-year terms included Frank J. Aquilino, Rosemarie A. Giovinazzo-Barnickel, Walter Daszkowski, and Anthony J. Tucci.

Gregory J. Cicero chaired the event.

The outgoing president, Ms. Sandak, presented awards to a number of members in recognition of the assistance she received from them during her term as president. Mr. Trochiano presented Ms. Sandak with a plaque of appreciation for her service, while Mr. Aquilino, who also serves as the Society's treasurer, presented the chapter with a special award commemorating its 50 years.

Active in the chapter for the last several years, serving as vice president as well as chair of the Newsletter Committee, Mr. Trochiano is a partner in Trochiano & Daszkowski LLP, with offices in both Staten Island and New Jersey. Prior to starting his own practice, Mr. Trochiano worked for a small firm and in the tax department of Ernst & Young LLP.

In addition to his involvement in the Society, Mr. Trochiano is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New Jersey State Society of CPAs. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the City University of New York College of Staten Island and also attended Albany State University. Mr. Trochiano resides in New Jersey with his wife, Bridget, and their three children, Justin, William and Ava.
