About FAE

Established in 1972, the Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) is a 501(c)(3) organization that administers an important strategic initiative of the NYSSCPA—to provide lifelong continuing education to certified public accountants in New York State. The FAE offers a wide selection of courses in accounting, auditing, taxation, industry-specific topics, ethics, and advisory services in multiple formats, including live and on-demand courses online, full- and half-day conferences and seminars; on-site learning and 1- and 2-credit CPE sessions provided through the NYSSCPA’s technical committees. The FAE also operates the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession program and The Moynihan Fund, which provides scholarship opportunities for students pursuing a college degree in accounting.

The Foundation for Accounting Education of the New York State Society of CPAs is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy hold final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org.

The Foundation for Accounting Education is approved to issue NASBA credit for Group Live and Group Internet Based courses. FAE’s sponsor number is 119366.

The FAE is also a registered CPE Sponsor in these states with the following sponsor numbers:

  • New York, 000372

FAE Trustees

The Foundation for Accounting Education of the New York State Society of CPAs is governed by a 12-member board of trustees that includes three officers: the president, secretary and treasurer. The trustees’ three-year terms are evenly staggered, so three vacancies occur each year in addition to the three slots available to the NYSSCPA Board. FAE’s Board of Trustees acts to fill vacancies in the three-year positions on the FAE Board, but its choice is limited to the six or more candidates identified by the NYSSCPA’s board of directors. The NYSSCPA’s Board of Directors Selections Subcommittee is charged with identifying individuals qualified to serve on the trustee board.
